There is a tool in academy, called construction. Upgrading this tool reduces the upgrading time of all other buildings a lot (f.ex. cottage lvl 7 -> 8 takes 1 hour, farm 7->8: 26 min). So I would say it is the most important thing to upgrade as soon as possible to gain so much time by upgrading other buildings.
An academy in a second city takes on the academy of the first one, so while upgrading construction in the first acad you can upgrade the other tools in the other academy to grow further.
Second thing I would like to say:
Quests - hero quests: Fullbuster made me pay attention to this kind of quests. It is not difficult, once you have upgraded your resources with constr. within a short time, to donate resources. Many many thousands of prest.points are the reward. Also if troops are donated. It is very easy to get troops via evony bonuses, and overall 70k pres reward for this is yours.
Third thing I have noticed that not everybody knows about it:
Allie: visiting another city=res reward=20k of each res, getting the visit of an allie=bonus reward=30k of each. All members of this alliance should interchange fb-accounts and visit each other to get those rewards. Only a few clicks daily and the "My items" is full of resources every day. Also this is necessary, because, with upgraded construction, building buildings is so much faster that you need more resources than farmed by yourself.
Overall the totally amount of pres will grow, the cities will grow and finally the amount of members also.
